Biography of Dr. Neville S. Cohen, O.D.

  • Born 1948, East London, South Africa.
  • Graduated Selborne College High School 1965.
  • Graduated Witwatersrand College of Advanced Technical Education, Johannesburg, South Africa 1968.
  • Worked as optometrist at Shaare Zedek hospital, Jerusalem, Israel 1969 – 1970.
  • Returned to South Africa 1970 and worked in private practice in optometry 1970 – 1972.
  • Graduated University of Houston College of Optometry 1973.
  • Internship in vision therapy at Optometric Center of New York 1973.
  • Served as staff member at Optometric Center of New York 1973 – 1974.
  • Worked with prominent New York Ophthalmologists 1974 – 1977.
  • Co-authored book “Out of Sight into Vision”, published by Simon and Schuster, on causes of vision problems and their solutions.
  • Obtained California license to practice Optometry in 1978.
  • Worked in private practice Los Angeles, California 1978 – 1980.
  • In private practice San Diego, California 1980 – present.
  • Co–founder of Ocumatrx, start up Bio–tech Company doing research and development on Glaucoma. Ocumatrx has developed an implant that reduces intraocular pressure without the use of eyedrops.
  • Chief interest is Corneal Refractive Therapy, a non surgical method to restore vision.
  • Dr. Cohen has son Daniel and enjoys hiking, catamaran sailing and traveling.
